I'd like to add rules for blindfighting.
If you can't see, what is the penalty? -30 for melee, -60 for ranged? Or -60 melee, ranged crit?
Add the write-in skill "blindfighting" to mitigate the penalty. Move penalty back one tier on a successful "blindfighting" check.
So -30 becomes at full. -60 becomes -30, crit becomes -60, impossible becomes crit, etc.
Inspired by our crackin' the kraken adventure.

I most definitely do not want a blind fighting skill. Magic spells and matrix power yes.

Why are you blindfighting? Because darkness? There is (or used to be) a spell to counter that you could permanently cast on yourself.
Because you are blindfolded? Make a new spell "See through material" and forever be slapped again!

Well, I was thinking "because my eyes were just put out" by some obnoxious PCs (with unbelievable luck) at the time.

When that becomes a regular and recurring problem, we'll address it, eh?
I do like that you are coming up with ideas. Keep trying. As Scott may tell you, this is not a fast process.

Blindness Spell Tree:
Blurry Vision -> Hunting Blind -> Blindfight melee -> Blindfight ranged -> Remove Blindness -> TBD -> TBD -> Blinding Flash -> Inflict Blindness -> Blindsight ->

Interesting if you want to write it up in the spell tree though -10 is probably the most negative I'm going to go. Considering LOTS of bad guys only have 3x that in total skill, taking off a third is pretty buff.

Interesting if you want to write it up in the spell tree I'll wait and see if Happy Fun Ball wants to take a stab at it.

I think the important thing to keep in mind is that I want players to develop the spells they really want and would find useful. Honestly, I can't remember a time in the campaign where anyone was ever blinded.
With the exception of 'these types of spells will never appear in Logan's campaign', it's a wide open field. Find something you are passionate about then - instead of trying to make a whole list, I'd suggest come up with a name for a possible list then a super weak spell. People who come from a D&D background generally are going for a much higher power spell than I'm wanting to have in the campaign.
But keep in mind that spells may be nerfed or stop functioning later. They may go off one list and on to another. Stuff may happen to them. Eventually, after enough lists are made, spells of similar level may be compared and adjusted (read as nerf) to be in line with other spells.
Spells are - and will remain - weak because I want someone to be able to ignore spells entirely and still be a viable character. If they choose to have spells then that may give them more options.
Spells and spell effects on the 'no' list include divination and informational spells (solve it yourself) as well as creation of something from nothing. There is other stuff but I don't know what it is. If I find it, I'll add it to my 'fuck no' list.

To be honest "this makes you blind" means "POZ!"

Being 'blind' is more than just having something happen to your eyes. It can also be during a dark night, moving around the sewers and your light source goes out, sneaking into a building at night and don't want your flashlight to give you away etc etc. So having a spell tree that also lessens the effects of these situations when you don't have the Murder in the Dark* card could be quite useful.
*reminder to Logan that this card still needs to be changed to reflect that Commonwealth countries such as Australia and New Zealand also had this game, it was not just Great Britain.

Wish you'd reminded me about the card back when I was doing the cards. I'll try to remember going forward.
As to that - yes, but I've already got a matrix power I don't want to step on called 'no negatives' and it includes that and a bit more.

As a guide, from a D&D frame of reference, I'm basically considering first tier to be something less that a cantrip, moving up through 1st level spell, and culminating in 2nd level spell. 3rd level spells and higher are not "low magic."
I am, a little bit, breaking that if I think an idea is cool, and I'm spitballing, not presenting well thought-out, completely balanced spells.
I like the "blindness" tree. Scott and I can work at that next week or so.

To be honest "this makes you blind" means "POZ!" Only for the PCs or unique enemies though. And, truthfully, Matt might just deal with blindness because he hates spending POZ and all his skills are up in the 80's. The super kraken, for some reason, did not have POZ, for instance. We made him blind. It was a successful tactic.
Throwing dirt in someone's eyes might also become a successful tactic, if it isn't too complicated for the system. I assume no one's trying that because there are no rules for it/it isn't possible in the system.
Just because it never came up much before doesn't mean it won't come up soon, or even often. After blinding the kraken, I immediately thought about what else I could blind and how.
