"Maybe a 10%-30% penalty?"
Here's Logan rule 1:
"Rule 1: Any negative - no matter how large or important will be forgotten about almost immediately by the player. Any bonus - no matter how slight - will be remembered forever."
But yeah - minor spell, minor drawback. Hum. Thinking.

How about you can only talk in a robot voice while data is stored? (Yes, you have to roleplay it.)

If the players remembered to do that it would be cool...

If they forget, the data might get corrupted...

Name: Johnny Range: Touch Casting Time: 3 Rounds MP Cost: 4 Duration: sunup/sundown or until overwritten/dumped/deleted
You can take a small amount of data (100mb) from a computer (or device like one) and store it into your head. It no longer exists in the previous vessel. You don't have access to it while it is in your brain. You can touch a different device and - if it has storage capacity - you can dump it in there. This does not decrypt or make the data safe. While holding the data in your head you can only speak like a robot. If the GM thinks you're not, the data is corrupted. If you no longer want to keep the data or if the spell duration ends (or if you get dispelled, etc) the data is gone forever.

Looks good to me. A little worried about the "it no longer exists in the previous vessel." Was just thinking it would be a copy, unless that's an intentional drawback you want it to have. Also, do you need to recast the spell in order to dump it into another device or can you just do it? The limited time and the MP cost might make the data irretrievable if you can't successfully recast the spell again due to running out of MP and not being able to recharge in time.

Actually, I like the idea of recasting the spell and needing the MP. Making choices about what to spend MP in is neat.

If you have to recast it to upload, I would increase the duration to 1 day or lower the MP cost.
Or just leave out that part. This is a minor effect, we don't need to keep tacking on drawbacks.

Nah, I'm good with it as is. I can see the effect - if properly done - being much greater.

As is, you can only reliably delete things. This makes it an inferior version of Degauss that takes longer to cast and costs the same amount of MP for some reason.
And deleting the data was only added to the spell as a drawback.

Honestly I think 2 MP sounds fair if you have to recast the spell again. Or just make it 4 and have the dump be free. All the spell really does is give you a convenient flash drive that isn't that big but can't be traced.

An untraceable flash drive. You could literally wander in to an organization that searches the crap out of people for those things and steal it's data. Then, stick it somewhere else.
Honestly - I don't think 4 and 4 are that bad. You can erase it for free but to stick it somewhere else - yeah. Cast the spell again.
