heroiccthulhu.proboards.com/thread/4541/tech-magic-machine-invisibilityMachine Audio Invisibility Range: 2m Casting Time: 1 Round MP Cost: 2 Duration: 1 hour The creature or object (up to a 3m cube) touched cannot be detected by recording machines, or other high-tech detection devices that use listen to sound waves. The creature/object is also audio invisible to mechanical construct type creatures. If the recipient is a creature carrying gear, the gear is likewise undetectable. Items dropped or put down by an affected creature become audio detectable to machine sensors. Any part of an item that the subject carries but that extends more than 3m from it becomes detectable, such as a trailing rope. Microphones don’t pick up sounds that the subject makes directly, although they will pick up sounds that subject makes by interacting with the environment. A hidden microphone wouldn’t hear the subject’s voice but would record the sound of that creature throwing a brick through a window. While machine "invisibility" is useful for many tasks requiring stealth, it sometimes makes the subject’s life more difficult. Talking on a phone or radio is impossible. Siri ignores you.

It is technically your feet interacting with the ground.

Perhaps the sound is mistaken as some natural sounds (wind, etc).

But what if there are no natural sounds? Quiet room. Do footsteps still make noise? My guess is no.
The way I'm envisioning this working is as if you have some kind of sound dampening field around you that literally blocks any sound coming from you.
… Interesting thought. The spell means you can't hear yourself speak. Suggestion (and I mean this in as non-offensively a way as possible): you must speak like a deaf person while this spell is active.

I'd rather have all the sounds come out normally but the machine doesn't read it or misinterprets it.

My only question is: do they hear footsteps? It is technically your feet interacting with the ground. No, your feet are covered by the spell so your feet hitting the floor won't make a sound; however, any case where your feet would cause what you are walking on to move/shift can make noise. A loose floorboard would still squeak as it moves against a nail, gravel would still crunch as it grinds against itself, typing on a keyboard would be audible (not your fingers hitting the keys, but the keys hitting the back/bottom of their stroke), same for opening or closing a door. Not unless you're a robot?

Not unless you're a robot? I realised that a few hours after I posted it and now feel dumb.

Is that what you would say if you were secretly a replicant?
