Let's say you have the following spell tree.
Potato 1 -> Tomato -> Cheese
Potato 2
Potato 3
I would like to suggest that if you Crit Potato 2 or Potato 3 you have the option of either continuing down the branch OR going further up the main tree (in this case, Tomato).
A fair few of the trees have really meh first tier spells, only getting worthwhile further down the branch. This way you are punished slightly less for going down a branch as if you're trying to work on a particular path and get a crit, you're not stuck getting the next level which you may not necessarily want, or stuck going nowhere if there is no next spell.
