Threat Level
Casting Time: 1 minute Range: 20m Duration: Instantaneous MP Cost: 6
By carefully studying the target, you are able to discern the following details: approximately how much HP they have, how hard their hardest-hitting attack hits for, and how fast they can move. If at any point during the casting of this spell you lose sight of the target, the spell fails. Does NOT work on non-organic creatures such as robots.

Instead of 'how hard their hardest-hitting attack hits for' maybe 'what is the largest die they use in dishing out damage but worded a bit better? Note that this will still leave plenty of room for surprises (poison, hasted, multiple attacks, whatever) but give the person who has an entire minute to spend some info.
Why not on robots? If not on robots, then not on undead/constructs/etc?

The reason for the no robots thing is because it's the Empathy tree which deals with emotions and shit. Robots don't have emotions. Undead probably have some rudimentary emotions so it could work on them. Constructs – unless they are built to experience emotion, no. Or is that just overcomplicating it? Work on everyone?

By carefully studying the target, you are able to discern the following details: approximately how much HP they have, their largest damage die as shown on the damage track (if they have more than one type of attack, you'll only get their most damaging one), and how fast they can move. If at any point during the casting of this spell you lose sight of the target, the spell fails. Does NOT work on non-organic creatures such as robots.

I like the idea. I don't know about it being in an empathy tree. How do emotions give information on movement speed, etc?
Is there a divination tree? (AKA magically find shit out tree?)

An excellent point. We don't have a divination tree but we do have a 'knowledge tree' that is in desperate need of spells.
Thinking more on this, the spell branch could be figuring out different kinds of creatures as you branch higher into it - your own race (human), humanoid living races, monsters, constructs and undead, etc.

I just put it in the Empathy tree because I was working on it. Figured if you are able to read emotions etc it would work kind of like some sort of… powerful insight into their being or whatever. Studying body language, emotions, physique, psyche… whatever way you want to fluff it. I can definitely see this in other trees too.

Animal Empathy was a skill in the KBC times... ah, the days of Doyle and AC...
