Draw a pentagram, put some MP into it to power it up, etc. Thinking that sort of thing might be an add on tree like 'meta-spells'.

I could also see with stuff like that. I'm not sure how to go about creating things though without creating a huge assembly line of shit.
In real life, there are few barriers to doing just that - in games, less so.
1. Cost of materials (cool) 2. Time (totally not cool - don't want players taking time off to make potions, same problem as 'paint parties') 3. Expertise (cool) 4. Stuff needed to do it with (over head and rare materials) Both of these are OK as it gives the PC's yet somewhere else to worry about and 'let's go hunt pixies to get their spleens for potions' but then you have the potential of a huge complicated list of shit - and what effects they would need have to be detailed.
Other stuff may come to mind later.

It's more trouble than casting a standard healing spell. What's the advantage? More potency? "Cast it now, use it later" isn't much of an incentive if we aren't allowed to do "painting parties."
