Just an idea to "spice up" this spell. Also I'm pretty sure the user wouldn't be taking any damage… The target will. Unless this is some weird masochistic spell? Name: Drown Casting time: 1rd Range: 10m Duration: instant MP cost: 4mp Description: Target takes d6 water dmg as the water in their body starts to fill their lungs. Target must make a Constitution/Endurance roll. If they fail this roll consecutively 3 times (meaning the spell must be cast 3 times in a row successfully), they collapse to the ground as they struggle to breathe and are effectively immobilised until they can clear their lungs (Constitution/Endurance at Half or -30).

that's far more powerful... I guess in the future, simple direct damage spells, I will say as much... right, target not user... sorry... *rolls eyes*

Ha ha yeah I just figured I'd try and add something to it. It looks fine otherwise. Nice and simple.

I'm digging the simple 4mp = d6 damage more. Simple, direct damage.

I'm just wondering if the flavour of this could be altered a bit to make more sense. While it is true that you are around 70% water, having it somehow "sucked" out of certain areas of your body and into your lungs could have far more serious repercussions than simply the effect of drowning.
From what I can tell this is just a simple damaging spell through water. What about…
Name: Blood Boil
Casting time: 1 rnd Range: 10m Duration: instant MP cost: 4mp
Description: You cause the blood around the target's internal organs to heat up drastically, dealing d6 damage.

That one might be better for the fire tree.

True. I can see it in both. I think it's a bit tricky to deal damage through water without it being external.

It's more like Pulmonary Edema than drowning.
...
Is this an attack that can't miss? Therefore not HEROable?

All attacks whether they can miss or not are HEROable.

why are we sciencing up the magic? It's water dmg and it happens because it's magic. For me it had a little more flavor than water bolt or some such nonesense... It's like the theme is immediately forget KISS and get silly into details that won't ever come up... or I'm crabby and haven't had my coffee yet.... prolly a little of both...

This spell is now going to get covered in the standard 'boom boom' spells.

All attacks whether they can miss or not are HEROable. Generally, yes. Except the ones that you can't. Rerolling damage you take from an AOE attack. Since AOE attacks (usually bombs, grenades, etc. but some sorts of monsters and spells may be included at the GM’s discretion) are not directed against ‘you’ but the area, you cannot say they ‘missed’ with a Hero Point. You can attempt to take less damage. Spending a Hero Point allows you to reroll some or all of the damage. You can spend as many Hero Points as you wish to reduce this damage.

Yep - I stuck this one in the graveyard as I am standardizing all of the DD spells.
