WALK THROUGH SHADOW TO KNOWN LOCATION (Basic Shadow Walking)
Casting time: Variable, 80 KM of distance needed.
Range: self up to 2 other people
Duration: variable - shadow walking takes time
Description:
Travel through shadow (it takes 2 days walking to cross a shadow); 3 people max; you have to have been to the place you are wanting to go to before. This may be attempted once per day. Note: If the character fumbles, they will be stuck in some horrible place of the GM’s choosing for up to 24 hours (again at GM’s whim) and the character may not try this skill again on the same day even if they have the ability to do so. The PC may not have to roll for each shadow they shift through if they don’t stop to explore, up to the GM.
Note - it will get you there but it is NOT hugely specific. You may want to come to ‘modern day earth’ and end up Malaysia when you wanted Russia, etc but you are on that shadow!
If one person in the group fumbles their shadow walking roll, the GM may choose to fuck with all of the PC’s for a day of fun.
PATTERN POWERS; in addition to gaining the first power (travel through shadow) after walking the Pattern, the person stops aging and is immune to disease.
For Shadow walking, you have to be close to the ground and shift small features here and there.
DORA’s & BF can walk through shadow with you. Though you may take a vehicle up to Winnebago size, this skill will only work if the only occupants of it do not exceed the maximum number of people (3).
A crit roll will get you to close (GM option) to where you are actually going as opposed to ‘somewhere in the world’. Getting ‘close’ to a crit doesn’t mean you will be close geographically. Crit or good luck!
For all shadow walking, even when in a vehicle, you have to go slow enough to note and control changes you can see on the ground. In other words, going too fast will actually prevent you from shadow walking. Example: If you are in something that is going say over 150KPH, everything is a blur outside. Focusing on small changes (new boulder here, moss on a tree there) is not possible. More so if you are in say a space fighter. Note that you can actually shadow walk while in something like a fast Millineum Falcon, you just have to pilot it super slow.
Note that a failed shadow walk may or may not take you out of the world and put you into another, at the GM’s discretion. This is some powerful stuff, not to be undertaken lightly nor by amateurs. The area may have it’s own dangers. If someone has the ‘shadow walk x2/day’ it does not mean that they won’t be in trouble after a failed roll, merely that they won’t have to camp there till the next day.
Just for clarification - if you are going to try to move anything bigger through a winnebago or RV through then you need to use ‘move corp through shadow’ etc powers.
Note - you cannot shadow walk from one place in the shadow to another within the same shadow.
