I sometimes come up with questions like "How much damage does a 45 do?" And answers like "Who the fuck knows?"
Thinking the first few game sessions as we attempt to rediscover the rules will be all sorts of fun.
This is what happens when I don't finish writing all the rules up.
My own fault - I know.
But for now, back to working on the important bit - the adventure.
I don't want to be 'that guy' who gets bogged down in the little rule questionings rather than having a solid adventure.

Current 7th Ed. rules are here. That's the "quick start" guide they have online. From that: Unarmed attacks (human): 1D3 + Damage Bonus Small knife: 1D4 + Damage Bonus Machete: 1D8 + Damage Bonus Small club: 1D6 + Damage Bonus Baseball bat: 1D8 + Damage Bonus Handgun: 1D10 Shotgun: 4D6 (at close range, otherwise 2D6; does not impale) Rifle: 2D6+4 So, pretty beefy handgun, I'd say about 2d6?

Thanks! I know all the rules that I'd worked up thus far were on Jamas' site www.eyrie.org/~thad/HC/ but I've not had time to go through them. Sure something like that is fine.

The Logan is a little tech impaired. Be patient with him.

Falling damage should realistically have a cap. Terminal velocity and all. My math tells me 20d6 would be about right.

My cap is 'give me an 01 luck roll or die'.
The reason people make the news from surviving a large fall is it is newsworthy.

1% is too often to be newsworthy IMO. There'd be about 5000 fall survival stories in the news per year.

True, I am very nice to the PC's. So kind.
Not sure if even 5000 people fell from terminal velocity to their death in 2016 though.

I was looking at 556k total falling deaths in 2013.

If you can survive with an 01 at terminal velocity, surely you can survive with an 01 at less than terminal velocity. For what it's worth though, I've never seen any credible story of a person surviving a that kind of fall on luck alone. Every example I can find involves either a malfunctioning parachute providing drag to slow them down, landing in some sort of deformable substance (usually snow), or being inside or attached to part of a plane that provides drag to slow them down and/or deforms to absorb impact.

If you can survive with an 01 at terminal velocity, surely you can survive with an 01 at less than terminal velocity. That would be some d6 (or d8 for extra painful surfaces) rolling time there.
