Rules clarification:
There are some zones where tech doesn't work (or tech past a certain tech level) and some where magic doesn't work (or magic outside of certain spells).
In those zones, to make it work anyway, is a willpower x3 for the quick effect to work.
In some zones where magic/tech ABSOLUTELY does not work it is a willpower x1 for the quick effect work.
Magic/Tech and ‘always on’ effects.
Sam takes his SCUBA tanks to Wiggletiepoo - a no tech zone. The tanks won’t work. Sam can try to make them work for a minute or two by pushing a Willpower roll but generally Sam’s SCUBA tanks are fucked.
The same applies to spells and such. Even ‘triggered’ things would need to be ‘charged’ just before the trigger is meant to happen. Without this quick and brief injection of Willpower, every thing’s natural state is ‘off’ in zones which do not allow for that effect (magic or tech).

Right. And in the zone Jeremy and I are in right now, the only magic that works without a will check is the "Sword Trick," yes? That's what I gathered from the spell description.
