Rapid Spell Casting time: Free action (only as part of casting another spell) Range: Self Duration: Instant MP cost: 2 Decrease the unit of measure of the target spell's duration by one place; E.G., hours -> minutes -> rounds -> 1 action -> free
Seeing way too much potential for abuse on this.
Plus, it's potentially too OP. Again.
What about something like "Decreases casting time by 10%. Any spell that takes less than ten rounds to cast is unaffected." That is pretty rapid, potentially handy? Way less powerful.

Hmm, its seems I meant "casting time" but accidently typed "duration"...but you were able to tell what I meant anyway.
Anyway...in combat, casting time is the most important thing. Out of combat, there is no difference between 10->9 hours or 10->9 rounds. They are both the same hand wave and "cut-to". Changing hours to minutes could be really useful in a time-cruched module though, whereas 10->9 hours will not. I could see my version getting a lot of play, but ultimately it's only as good as your other spells. So maybe this is one actually worthy of a jacked-up MP cost? 6MP?

It's possible - I'd like some other people to chime in on this one.

Rapid Spell (credit: Scott)
Casting time: Free action (only as part of casting another spell) Range: Self Duration: Instant MP cost: 6 Decrease the unit of measure of the target spell's CASTING TIME by one place; E.G., hours -> minutes -> rounds -> 1 action (THIS IS THE MINIMUM).
Example: If the spell takes 4 minutes to cast now it takes 4 rounds.
