Unlike in pretty much every other RPG I've seen (and run) in the past, gear within this current game is very 'now you have it now you don't.'
Not to be counted on. Not to be relied upon.
The players often travel between realities/dimensions/zones/where ever and have discovered that sometimes the gear travels, sometimes it does not, sometimes it mutates - and that can all be going through the same gate.
So what can the players do?
When landing in a new zone the players may often need to scramble for new gear while trying to figure out 'what's the deal with this place'.
Later, they can make cashes or set up businesses that generate enough of a return that 'money there shouldn't be a major concern so long as they're just buying small stuff' (like personal weapons, food, kit).
Eventually, I could see clever PC's with various safe houses, stored or buried gear, etc all over the place.
Who doesn't want to have a Bourne Identity safe deposit box in every zone?
