Season 3 has quite a few 'bubble maps'.
These will be made available to the players when they play. After a majority of the players have gotten them, I'll just post them on line.
Here is how they work:
I've made various notes of the more interesting businesses and such. All of the GM only comments and secret places have been deleted off of the player's copies. It is up to the players to find this stuff. Doing so will add a significant percentage of stuff onto the maps.
If the players want to make their own maps (whether it is filling in more areas of the bubble map or even if they want to try to make it into a more traditional map) then they may of course do so. If a player from one group meets up with another and wants to share their map with them, they of course may. {If the players ever have a desire to set up a 'secure means of communication' between all the groups, actually do so and really do use them, then the players at that time might be able to just post their maps on this forum. Until and unless the groups all do this, I ask the players not post their notes on the board.}
A pretty good percentage of things listed on the bubble maps (say 20%?) have notes and interesting shit.
As an example if Pete says "Logan, I want to check out the Old Strange House on the hill", if there is a secret door I'll just ask for a 'spot hidden roll'. I'm not going to make Pete walk around fondling candle sticks and shit to try to open a secret door. So finding stuff - if anyone bothers to look in *specific locations* is not that difficult. Chris may even say "Logan, I'm going to check out these six different areas in the Tenderloin district". There may be some rolls (stealth, surveillance, whatever) but if there is anything in there and Chris makes his rolls he'll turn it up. Should he fail his (for example) stealth roll and get chased out of there, he could (if he wanted) just mark that area and ask someone else to check it out or go back another day/session/whatever. By checking out groups of areas, Chris may be able to get around listing out each and every place with Logan going 'no, no no yes no'. If Chris wishes to share that information, more stuff may or may not be dug up later by various groups.
Note that trying to find a specific business may be a bit trickier; just as in real life you might get stuck wandering around wondering where the knife shop is (and getting directions which only seem to get you more lost) finding it on the map can be interesting. But if you can find the business on the map itself, it may pay off as you can either find out if there is something interesting about that business or if it is not a big deal. I encourage players to mark up their own copies of the maps or make whatever notes they wish.
As Russ discovered, the bubble maps are pretty fucking extensive. Good luck folks.
