Hero Points and what they do.
Using a Hero Point can:
1) Allow you to reroll a missed roll or just reroll something you want (like damage dice).
2) Negate incoming damage from a single directed attack. Doesn't work on area effect stuff. This can also work for the vehicle you are in. For example if someone shoots the tire of a car you are a passenger in you can spend a Hero Point and they just missed.
3) If someone spends a Hero Point against you, you can say 'counter', spend one then theirs is lost. Note, they can do this to you if they have Hero Points.

Even though it's covered by the above rule, I'd like to add that spending a Hero Point can also allow re-rolls at skill/stat-ups.
So no one's stat ever goes down because if you roll a snake eyes, you just spend a Hero Point and the chances of rolling another one are super slim (this is pretty much what players do, always).
You can likewise re-roll the 2d6 to try to get a 7 and maybe get a shot at failing Stat x 5 (this usually doesn't pay off).
If you make a really low skill that you intend to build up, you can spend a Hero Point and try to fail that roll again while doing skill-ups. Or any other skill-up that you think went the wrong way. (Also inadvisable, but it can be done).
And finally, if you roll a 1 on a d6 to add to a skill, you can always throw a Hero Point and see if you can do better (I heartily advise against this, however).

I added to the rules:
Hero Points (and any remaining cards from the session) may be used to influence these rolls but generally it is a poor use of HERO Points - unless you rolled ‘snake eyes’.
(And everything before the hyphen for skill ups).
