You touch an electronic device or device that stores electronic data (such as a CD) and protect it from being affected by Tech Magic. The level of protection is based on your maximum skill in the spell. For example: if your Firewall skill is 35, the inverse is the difficulty to affect it (65). A crit on your Firewall boosts the protection by 10%. Anyone who attempts to use Tech Magic to affect a Firewalled device and fails is aware that it is protected but does not know how powerful the protection is.

Difficulty to affect it...hmm. I don't think I've ever seen a spell skill opposed by a spell skill. Usually you'd roll to cast it and then have the opposed roll be ESS vs WILL or ESS vs ESS.

Oh, okay. I wasn't sure how it normally worked so I just kind of made it up. If that's how difficulty is normally done, then sure!

Note that most spells just last till sunup/sundown due to weird magic shit in the air.
To get them to last longer would be some other kind of spell we do not yet have (but will eventually). This would entail possibly hooking it up to some other source of magic, etc.

I don't think casting Firewall every day is very practical though, especially if you want to secure multiple devices. Usually when you secure something you expect it to stay secured for at least a while before you need to check on it. Also, I should clarify, the "fail" clause is when you succeed at casting the spell but fail to affect the device.

Eventually, we will develop something that allows the players to go beyond the short (sunup/sundown) duration that pretty much all spells have. Spells are super inconvenient in that way because magic is a super fragile thing. Trying to secure one device is a pain in the ass - until the players develop ways to hook their magic into the 'magic of the universe' trying to secure multiple devices is - and should be - impossible.
In the same way that putting a 'phase' spell on multiple people every day pretty much sucks out all of the magic from someone with a high enough essence to be 'a sorcerer'.

Okay then! Sounds good. Maybe we need to develop another spell that's like "you double the current duration of a non-instantaneous spell. This effect stacks."

I don't know if you want to change it to ESS VS ESS or what so I just left it as it is.

You touch an electronic device or device that stores electronic data (such as a CD, computer, etc) and protect it from being affected by Tech Magic. Anyone attempting to affect the device without magic is at an additional -30% on relevant skills. To remove this additional protection requires a spell to dispel this (such as 'item counterspell' or 'magic item nullification').

So it only protects against normal hacking, not against spells? Was aiming to make this a counter against other Tech Magic.

Good point. Hum. We would have to figure out which tech spells specifically after the tree is done (it might be all but until tree is done we don't know).

Oh. A complete negation (until further developments of the tree are done). Interesting. Okay. I was just thinking of having it act as an added layer of security that can still be broken through, but complete immunity sounds good too. At least until more of the tree is completed.
