It would be cool if these spells were easier to cast in a tech zone that hinders magic.

Since they still use magic, that would be illogical. However, there are some 'magitek' zones - you've been in some. There may be also zones where you can buy a toaster that is either tech or magic.

Magic has special rules all the time, and there is often nothing logical about it. Anyway, I was thinking like maybe you need willpowerx5 instead of willpowerx3. Still hindered, but a touch easier. And it screws people out of their checks in willpower.
You see, the problem with this whole tree is that it will only work in "anything goes" zones. In a magic zone the spells are castable, but the tech you are casting them on won't work reliably if at all...and in a tech zone (where we are really really designing these spells for) you can't cast the spells reliably.
So really, either it should be easier to cast them, or we should knock down some of those MP costs to reflect the fact that in practice you are going to fail at casting them 2-4 times more often than we were accounting for....
Or...or. Getting an idea here.
Build it into a spell.
Name: Cross the Streams Range: Self Casting Time: 1 Round MP Cost: 2 Duration: Until Sunup/sundown
Makes it easier* Willpower-wise to cast Tech tree (and only tech tree!) spells in a tech zone.
*TBD
Also possible:
Name: Recross the Streams Range: Self Casting Time: 1 Round MP Cost: 4 Duration: Until Sunup/sundown
Makes it easier* Willpower-wise to use tech devices in a magic zone.
*TBD

I can't really weigh in on this too much as I'm not that familiar with how things work, but I like the idea that spells are harder to cast in technological zones, even if the spells are tech-related.
Perhaps reducing the MP costs like Scott suggested would be a good idea. I also like the "cross the streams" spells. But, I agree, I don't think you should be able to flat out cast tech spells like normal just because you're in a technological zone.

Those zones exist. I am totally happy having a tree that only exists for a relatively narrow band of zones.
