Thinking about making death/unconsciousness happen at just zero instead of 0 or 1.
Example: You reach 1 MP. Stop casting shit! If you reach 0 MP, you pass out.
Example: You may bravely fight on until your HP reach zero or less. If you have no 'stun' damage, you are dead. If you have some 'stun' damage, you may be alive. If your 'real' damage matches your HP, the stun damage doesn't matter, you are still dead.
What do people think about this?

Zero is more intuitive.

I was thinking so as well. I think 1 was made so people could be unconscious but nobody ever hits just one.

Another option would be zero as unconscious and -1 or less as dead. It would be more elegant if HP and MP had the same unconscious number. I think most games have zero as unconscious (or unconscious-adjacent).

I'm actually digging that and would like more opinions on it. Consistency FTW!

I actually didn't realise it was dead/unconscious at 1 HP. Thought it was <=0. Doesn't make sense for it to be 1 to me. I am for the change!

HP and MP - zero is unconscious, negative is dead.

Can MP go negative?

Even if a PC attempted to cast a spell that costs more MP than they have, they couldn't. It would KO them but leave them at zero. However, there may be strange creatures out there than can drain MP and when you get to negative - death! Avoid those creatures.

MAGIC POINTS
Your magic points are equal to your Essence stat.
After a good night of sleep, you gain them all back.
If you go down to 0 MP, you fall unconscious. If you go to negative MP, you die. Note that it is not possible for a caster to take themselves to negative MP. If they attempt to cast a spell that costs more MP than they have, it automatically fails. They then lose half of the MP of the spell - the normal cost for failing a spell. If this takes them to negative MP, they are instead at 0 MP and unconscious. They will regain consciousness in 8 hours. This is a great way to get to sleep when ever you want but you can’t be woken up until 8 hours go by.
