We have a… guest locked up in one of the cabinets over in the Bed-And-Breakfast in Burlington. Would be appreciated if you could refrain from vacating them from existence until we have had a chance to ask him some questions. If you manage to get any useful information out of them, that would be appreciated.
Turns out he and his friends had been taking advantage of the zone's "reset" feature and luring people into the building to the East and then grinding them up into giant human-sized sausages through some machine on the other side of the Realm Gate. Infinite supply of food, it seems.
If you could keep him from expiring until we find out who he is working for and to what end, that would be great. Finding a way of communication would be the first step. If you manage to get any useful information, please let us know.
PS: Shine some bright light at him if he gets out of control.

A posh English gentleman’s voice comes to life.
“Is this thing on?” Tap tap “Ah, yes, well indeed”
“I’m Rory Tartbottom, astronaut, brain surgeon, lion tamer and philanthropist extraordinarie! My great chum Alex Kinley has asked me to remind you that if other Dora’s are wishing to gain access to the Morlock stronghold, they will have to wait till nightfall for the gates to open. Also, there are big pipes like from an organ that comes up out of the stronghold that plays chords that seem to hypnotise the towns folk and lure them in.” “I do say Alex, you have some smashing adventures!”
“Oh and one last thing he asked me to point out, he says he knows he’s not bound from using the wrist thingies anymore, but he just likes the old ways, he says it’s more personal”

Update:
The gates don't seem to open any more at night time. We think it may be because we messed with the machine that operates the doors on the other side and it has not been fixed. Also the alarms no longer sound either.
… Also our guest didn't make it, despite Doc Fulton's best efforts.

We have used one of the alien grenades and blown open the gate. You can now pass through. Unfortunately, this also means the Morlocks now also have access to Burlington again. I would really suggest someone deal with them before they start turning more people into sausages.
PS: we encountered some agents and ran away because I don't know how to deal with them. Someone shed some insight on what they are all about?

I have an idea as to what caused them to show up but… Why do they show up?

No idea.
They seem to show up if you
a) use magic. b) use future tech. c) use the phone in the police station.
I assume they showed up right after you used the alien grenade?

Ah… ha… no… They showed up after I tried bashing open a door with my new fancy lightsaber. I don't wanna talk about it. I'm not cut out for this "leadership" business.
Though I imagine they would have showed up after we used the grenade anyway. I kind of want to capture one of them now… I'm curious… Really curious. Just before they showed up, the people on the street started blinking weirdly.
Is Burlington the only zone that has these agents? If so, why? And what's so special about the phone in the police station?

The can appear in any zone. If something is done outside of the zone paradigm and witnessed by background people they will start turning up. That is how it appears to have worked from what we have experienced. However there have been instances where I would have expected them to turn up and they haven't. eg there was no sign of them turning up when Zog's minions invaded Burlington with dinosaurs and lasers.
As to the phone, I've been curious as to if it can be taken to a different zone and used to summon agents. Eg take the phone to Land of the Lost and summon agents near the General's compound
When they arrive the number of agents that turn up continue to increase exponentially until the 'threat' is gone. First 2, then 4, then 8, then 16 etc.
Yes they can be killed. Doc & I summoned using the phone when Burlington had been invaded by the wild west women and then took up a concealed position and watched the results. Some of the agents were killed. They are just alot harder to kill. We examined several of the agents bodies afterwards. I think I've posted about it elsewhere.

It may be useful to outline what said paradigms are in each zone so that there are no more… surprises. Glenn has mentioned what they are in Burlington. Where else have you witnessed the agents appear and under what circumstances?
Also it may be worth starting a new thread for this conversation as this is getting somewhat off topic.

Now that is an interesting idea! I know it doesn't need to be connected to anything, because it still worked when the Burlington police station was reduced to rubble and all of the inhabitants were dead.
First off, nothing happens unless your tech/magic is witnessed by locals. (Exception: the phone, as detailed above.)
I suspect that the wrong kind of tech (non-magitek tech) can summon them in Gothic. As in, bystanders acted funny when I tried to make a device work. I've never seen the MIB actually appear there though.

So using a high-tech device such as a laptop in Gotham (and having people witness you doing so) would summon them in your opinion?

Gothic is the zone with the White Dove. Gotham is the zone formerly known as Red Carpet. I have not been to Red Carpet/Gotham since it changed.
I hypothesize getting a laptop to work in Gothic in front of the locals would summon MIB.
