A good time to figure this out is BEFORE the game, on the boards. There are IG boards - use them.
A great time to figure out what you're going to do is long enough before the game that you can let Logan know a day or two before hand when he is NOT running games. Not much prep gets done on days I have run a game - if any.
A shitty time to figure out what you want to do is when you are in game. This isn't the kind of game where plots come to you and say "Pick me!". Well, sometimes but don't bet on it.
This game is one that rewards planning and punishes everyone for not.
Of course if everyone is agree that 'We will go to the fortress of Doom' but when you get in the game a better looking plot appears and everyone decides to chase it instead that's great but if you go into game saying "I'm neutral on what to do" you might just end up sitting around wondering why it is such a boring session.

Turns out it's hard to do a game about exploration when everything changes month to month (or week to week).

Turns out it's hard to do a game about exploration when everything changes month to month (or week to week). Hence it's a super good idea to a) read the IG boards b) formulate a plan c) let the GM know when he's still got non-gaming days to prep. d) have a backup plan in case someone does your plan.
