Just FYI - because I know that the players try one thing and think that everything is like that -
The tech and magic levels, in addition to being able to change season to season or zone to zone from what is going on in the world are also sometimes more complicated than what the players may think.
Here's an example of a tech level from a zone:
Medieval tech and gunpowder stuff, unlimited. Tech up to modern day, x3 Tech cyberpunk or beyond, x1
The same kind of 'more intricate divide up' also applies to certain types of magic, schools of magic, etc.
Wanted to let people know in case they try (for example) one magic school and it seems to work so they don't get too butt hurt if a different school of magic completely fails to work.
Detailed experimentation is your friend.
