Gotta make something up as not to give anything away.
Let's say you were on the moon and discovered it was actually made of green cheese (horrifying green cheese) rather than anything logical.
What would that sanity loss go under?
I had thought about 'time/space distortion' but the sanity loss I've got in mind would mean that the time space distortion is too low and would need to be increased from 14 up to 40.
Or should it be in a new category? If so, what?

Er - possibly. That could cover a lot of ground.
It's kind of a toss up as far as sanity stuff goes. If it's narrow enough, it is something that the PC's conceivably could max out (gross out, human gore, marriage) but if it's wide, good news it all goes into that pot. Bad news, those pots are BIG.

The thing with sanity is that people will become numb/used to something eventually. whether they will be insane before that occurs (in the case of a GOO) is another thing.
Depending on the reality shake up of concept thing, it may actually be quite little San. When people were confronted with the reality that the world was actually round, not flat I don’t think everyone became insane due to having to deal with it

But I still need to figure out if I should make a different san bucket for the thing or increase the bucket size of time/space distortion.

What you are describing isn't really time/space distortion. More something like "Paradigm shakeup" or "paradigm distortion". Some previous things we've rolled san against would fit better under that then time/space distortion I suspect.

Can you give some examples of things you would put under paradigm distortion?

We are in a simulation The moon is really made of cheese An example from old ep relating to the village - we are robots.

Fair enough - what do you think a good sanity max would be? 30? 40? 50?

Looking at an old char sheet as to the maxes of various san loss inducing things, I'm leaning towards 30. Alot of stuff is at 20, KBC Building was 30 and that was pretty much paradigm/reality distortion stuff

I like 'paradigm distortion'.
I've posted a request for people to list off sanity loss maximums they've undergone on the FB group. Hopefully, we will get some feedback and then I will ask Freddy to expand the roll20 sheet so we have some standardization.

they just couldn't say least the Church smack them down. Turns out that was a myth too.
