Shapeshifting (tier 1) changes

Changes to basic (first tier) shape shifting. It now reads like this:

With this skill you get to pick ONE minor change. This skill is ONLY for that change. (Branch off skills inc x2/day, x3/day etc sold separately for each form. A different branch off skill is another minor shape shift thing. Off of that you have another minor form, etc.)

Shape shifting your minor new thing takes two minutes. Translation - don’t bother trying this during combat at this level.

Shift once per day (and back again which also takes a shape shifting roll). Going back also takes two minutes.

Allowed changes (each is a different roll): Hair color; eye color; claws, gills. Alter smell a bit (to a different human but not a specific one). Alter height very slightly. Alter weight very slightly. Toughen skin (counts as armor). Sharpened teeth (new skill: Bite, d4 damage)
Change fingerprints (fingerprints become random human fingerprints) Nictitating membrane (aka third eyelid, some animals have this as an extra layer of protection) and other minor shit the GM may or may not allow. Consult GM.

Note - residual self image does NOT reset any shape shifting shit as shape shifting is a ‘higher magic’ so to speak.

So for those of us who have it, we must now pick which minor change we have? And all the other ones we've done we are no longer able to do? Makes more sense this way. Nice change.

Yes and thanks. Pick one - gills is probably the most useful one initially aka 'don't drown'!

Can't you just go to a null magic zone to change back with no roll?

Yes to Freddy's gills, no to Scott's question. The Amber powers are above the zone rules in what works and what doesn't. In other words, you could go to a zone where no magic worked at all and do some Amber shit.

Of course, there may be zones out there where Amber shit does not work...

Added to lv1 shape shift: With all of these changes - aside from gills and toughened skin (maybe bite if you’re into that) they are all cosmetic. At much higher level you can get into neater shit. {Logan note- pretty much the reason I left these in there - at least for now is because I already had them in there.}
